This Grade II* property consisting of a farmhouse, cottage, and historic 13th century mill is set within the 45 acre Gants Mill Estate, with the River Brue and footpaths to neighbouring villages and countryside. Suited to holidaying groups and families, Gants Mill is just a 10 minute scenic footpath walk to the popular town of Bruton with its boutique shops, restaurants, and the world renowned Hauser & Wirth gallery. A short drive away are The Newt, the market town of Castle Cary, mystic Glastonbury, historic Wells, and Stourhead (National Trust).Â
The farmhouse is located within 45 acres of farmland, and has its own outdoor heated swimming pool (April to October), vegetable garden, chickens for fresh eggs, an orchard and oodles of space. The Farmhouse has been recently fully renovated with a blend of old features and new comforts, providing for a relaxing, cosy stay, with a modern and fully equipped open plan kitchen, dining area, living room with wood burner, separate TV room and also a kids arts and crafts room, complete with some basic art supplies.  The two spacious master suites, twin bedroom and bunk rooms are all on the first floor with countryside views and newly fitted bathrooms.Â
The expansive gardens are maintained as wild flower meadows with lots of places to eat, sit, run around, relax and hide&seek. A couple of areas are still growing in, so we are offering the property at a discounted rate until such time as the landscaping is fully completed. That said, there is a swimming pool, a firepit, a rustic outdoor barbeque, a pegoda and outdoor dining table for your use and there are endless places to explore.Â
A large selection of kids bikes, skateboards, scooters etc available. Riding these toys on Gants Mill's own private road with its gentle slope has provided hours of fun for our kids and you are welcome to do the same for yours. Between collecting eggs from the chickens, digging up vegetables in the garden, exploring the river, orchard and fields, our kids spend most of their time outside.
It should be noted that there is a train line running through the fields on the other side of the river from the house. The trains are hardly audible from within the buildings and don't run at night, but you will hear them pass through the estate if you are in the gardens.  It has never bothered us or any guests, but we wanted to let people know just in case.
A bridleway running through the estate offers a quick pleasant route into Bruton - just a few minutes walk away.  Head through the gate behind the cottage, and follow the paths and signs - the cafes, bakery, restaurants, pubs, art galleries, shops and stepping stones of Bruton awaits!Â
